Disability Access

"Disability is a natural part of the human experience, and in no way diminishes the right of individuals to participate in or contribute to society. Improving educational opportunities, accessibility, and eliminating discrimination have the potential to unlock the full and productive potential of persons with disabilities."

Equal Access for All: Aurora Assist Helps You Navigate ADA Compliance and Beyond

At Aurora Assist, we understand the importance of complying with the ADA and similar regulations around the world to ensure equal access for all individuals. We provide a range of services to help building owners and companies ensure that their properties are compliant with the ADA or equivalent legislation. Further references to ADA include all global legislation surrounding similar accessibility rights.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law in the United States that was passed in 1990 to ensure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. It prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in various areas, including employment, transportation, public accommodations, telecommunications, and state and local government services. One of the main components of the ADA is the requirement for public accommodations, such as buildings and facilities like restaurants, stores, hotels, and offices, to be accessible to people with disabilities.

While other countries do have some provisions, they do not have such comprehensive protections as the ADA, in our opinion. Some examples of countries with similar laws:

Canada - Canada has the Canadian Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in areas such as employment, housing, and access to goods, services, and facilities.

Australia - Australia has the Disability Discrimination Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in areas such as employment, education, and access to goods, services, and facilities.

United Kingdom - The United Kingdom has the Equality Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in areas such as employment, education, and access to goods, services, and facilities.

European Union - The European Union has the European Disability Strategy, which aims to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all areas of life, including employment, education, and social inclusion.

Japan - Japan has the Act for Elimination of Disability Discrimination, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in areas such as employment, education, and access to goods, services, and facilities.

These are just a few examples, as many countries around the world have laws and policies in place to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities. However, the specific laws and regulations vary by country and may have different requirements and protections than the ADA.
